The traditional Ceremonial Laying of Wreath at   the memorial of the victims of 22nd of August,   1962 took place on Thursday, August 22, 2013.   Eternal the memory of:   Panagiotis Bouloubasis   age 54   Christos Tsaouis   age 52   Nikolaos Birbilis   age 30   from Psathopyrgos   Nikolaos Markouras   age 23   Christos Moukas    age 16

"An offering which ... is not forgotten"

writes the newspaper IMERISIOS TIS ACHAIAS (21-08-2013) and goes on ...
"Already 51 years have passed since on August, 22, 1962, all Greece was shaken to the core by a tragic
accident ... The news of those days did not "travel" with the speed like today ... nevertheless, the accident - five
people lost their lives building the street to bring progress into our region - "travelled" due to the harrowing
publications in the newspapers.

But the offering ... is not forgotten! Every year these days the dynamic CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS "LORD BYRON"
executes a petitionary prayer for the victims, and at the crossroad of the old national road ...
a memorial was build, "as ethical obligation of our society against the people who gave their lives, building the
central street, which later brought prosperity into the region", as the administrative council of the CulturalSociety
Longos mentioned ..."

The wreath was laid down by the secretary of our society, Mrs Natasa Rodopoulou.
