The Managing Committee of Longos Cultural Society "Lord Byron" invited the members and friends of our society to mark the

International Women's Day

This event took place on Wednesday, March 8, at 8.30 p.m. in the Cultural Centre of Longos.

 

    

International Women's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women for their economic, political and social achievements.
The earliest Women's Day was organized by the Socialist Party of America on February 28, 1909, in New York.

United Nations:
International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

2017 Theme: “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”.
