In the context of the Cultural Summer 2018 the CHILDREN's THEATRE LONGOS presented the theatrical performance   «Citizens united - never defeated» by Milena Apostolaki on Saturday, August 4, at 9.00 p.m. at the Theatre F.O.L. in the Cultural Centre Longos. Admission free!

«Citizens united - never defeated» an adaptation - a combination of two works - "The Adventures of the Seasons" by Mariza Georgalou, which deals with the issue of the imbalance of the environment and the disturbances of uncontrolled human actions, as well as the play "Citizens united - never defeated!" a realistic plot of Mileana Apostolaki on the exciting attempt to protect nature. Our active participation in society and our sense of responsibility motivates us to become active ambassadors of a harmonious life on the planet. The project seeks to inspire children about the universal values ​​of respect, harmony and balance in nature by expressing the importance of forgiveness, love and appreciation, underlining the benefits that citizens have when they choose to play an active role, consciously acting in their neighborhood and in their house, the earth. It tells us the adventure of the planet when one of the four seasons, the summer, incited by man, refuses to pass the baton to fall. The balance of nature will be disturbed, and man himself will become the greatest victim of his own fraud. He will become a person who has to live on a planet from which the colors, the carelessness, the joy, the beauty of nature are lost and only burned land is left. If a person does not recognize the consequences of his or her decisions, sooner or later he will be in a difficult position and there will be no return. The land is full of garbage and plastic bags, in the cities the same ... The mayor's plans to destroy the park in the neighborhood prompt Georg, Themis and their classmates to take the initiative, to organize. All fighting together to thwart the plans of the mayor and they succeed through the power of their participation.

The authors

Mrs Mariza Georgalouwas born in Volos in 1983 and lives in Athens. She studied English literature at the University of Athens and Linguistics at the University of Lancaster in the UK. At the same time she works in linguistic research in the field critical speech analysis and computer communication. In her free time, she makes pottery and collects fairy tales.

Mrs Milena Apostolaki was born in 1965 in Athens. She comes from Archaia Eleftherna / Rethymnon. Mrs Apostolaki is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens. She is a politician, lawyer, former MP and writer who writes in print media and electronic newspapers. In 2014 she published the children's book "Citizens United - Never Defeated!", for which Kostas Chrysogonos wrote the foreword. Other works include "The Inappropriate" and "The End of Government Change."

The chairman of the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS, Mr Ierotheos Mourikis, welcomed the spectators on behalf of the board and explained the development of the CHILDREN'S THEATRE of the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS, which is due to Maria Dourou-Sollbach and Werner Sollbach, with performances since twelve years - always with special topics and always connected with a message. He explained in a few words the treatment of the two pieces, the first, thematizing the balance of the environment and human intervention, and the second play - written by our fellow-citizen Milena Apostolaki - "Citizens Unite - Never Defeated!", which appeals to the whole Public with the message of personal responsibility and participation in society applies. Afterwards Mr. Mourikis thanked the children, who participated in the performance. He also thanked all sponsors and the Association for the Protection and Rational Development of the Corinthian Gulf (Σ.Π.Ο.Α.Κ.), which has set itself the goal of banishing the plastic bags.

To support this goal, the board of the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS decided to distribute reusable shopping bags to the spectators after the presentation. Finally, Mr Mourikis mentioned the roots of Milena Apostolaki and welcomed her present mother and sister. He mentioned the Vasilopoulou family and grandmother Eleni Vasolopoulou, who played a major role in the Longos theater. In 1949 she was Souffleuse - and has written off the lyrics of the former actor by hand, there was still no photocopying machine. So there's a history here, he said, an honor for all of us. Mr Mourikis briefly presented the further activities of the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS in the context of the Cultural Summer 2018 and thanked all those who supported "THE SMILE OF THE CHILD" with their donation in kind.
