The Theatre F.O.L. presented "IPHIGENIA IN LONGOS" written by the members of he Adults-Theatre-Group F.O.L. The premiere took place place on Sunday, August 7, 2019, at 9.15 p.m. at the Cultural Centre Longos. ADMISSION 3,00 EURO as financial support for the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS.

The play In Greek mythology, Iphigenia was one of the daughters of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, best known for her sacrifice at Aulis. The myth of Iphigenia is developed in the tragedies of the great tragic poets. The tragedies "Iphigenia at Aulis" and "Iphigenia in Tauris" by Euripides are saved. A tragedy with the first title was written in modern times by the French poet Jean Racine, while operas with both titles were also composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck. In total, there are 14 operas by different composers with the title "Iphigenia at Aulis". Johann Wolfgang von Goethe also wrote songs under the title "Iphigenie in Tauris", one of his most classical works. "Iphigenia (in Lixouri)" by Petros Katsaitis (Kefalonia 1720) is a sparkling theatrical text combining ancient myth, Euripides, the Romans and the Italian scholars. Iphigenia also inspired the great Greek poet and Nobel Prize nominee Yannis Ritsos, who wrote the poetry collection "The Return of Iphigenia" (November 1971 - August 1972).

The play "IPHIGENIE IN BLACK", published in a book entitled "Ο Νευρικός Κύριος και άλλα σκέτς" (The Nervous Gentleman and Other Sketches), was written by Dimitris Psathas in 1942. It was performed on 1 February 1942 during the German occupation. The Germans pretended to be outraged by Euripides' denigration. But they understood the allegory very well: the play was banned. Based on the mythological Iphigenia and the Iphigenia of Psathas, the adult theatre group of the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS "LORD BYRON" wrote the adaptation "IPHIGENIE IN LONGOS" as a parody against war, against the death of children from hunger and against the black marketeers of the 21st century.
