The authorThe US-American playwright Neil Simon was born on July 4, 1927. He is considered one of the best comedy writers in the history of American literature. Simon has created over 30 theatre works and has written almost the same number of film scripts.Despite the fact that Simon has been nominated for more OSCARs and TONYs than any other writer, many believe he has been underrated for most of his career as a playwright because he wrote comedies rather than dramas. Neil Simon died on August 26, 2018.

The playThe play "Fools" by Neil Simon is a light, romantic comedy set in a hamlet in the Ukraine at the end of the 19th century, which manages to raise questions of modernity through wit.The play focuses mainly on diversity and shows that enforcement, contempt, intimidation and social discrimination do not make people more important. On the contrary, friendliness, willpower, respect and love are what make people of all ages and social levels unique. In a remote Ukrainian village, Kulyentsikov, a new teacher arrives to teach. But he soon finds out that two centuries ago a count put a curse on the village, saying that all the inhabitants will be born ignorant and die stupid. The teacher can only break the curse with knowledge or love. The eccentric characters of the village even unleash their own stupidity, leading to spontaneous laughs. Above all, the play shows that bullying and the exercise of power do not make people more important. Instead, it is respect, willpower and love that distinguish people and make them special. The CHILDREN's THEATRE LONGOS attempts to shed light on a delicate, timeless subject such as the manipulation of knowledge and the cultivation of people. The "curse" can be solved, of course. Provided that respect and love play an active role in people's lives.
