Wednesday, July 24, 2024 - Charity event - "Cherchez la femme"

On Wednesday, 24 July 2024, members of the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS "LORD BYRON" took part in a charity event in aid of Ε.Κ.Α.ΜΕ/Α.m.Ε.Α. Egio at the THEATRE GEORGOS PAPPAS. The musical theatre piece "Cherchez la femme" based on an original by Argyro Margariti has been performed. Ε.Κ.Α.ΜΕ/Α.m.Ε.Α. (Special Centre for the Rehabilitation and Care of People with Special Needs)

The foundation of the Ε.Κ.Α.ΜΕ/Α.m.Ε.Α. Association in 1997 was the result of the activation of a group of parents of children with disabilities and their sensitized friends, who saw the lack - at local level - of a specialized body. The purpose of the Association was to create a standard Training Center for people with intellectual disabilities. Thus, since November 1998, Ε.Κ.Α.ΜΕ/Α.m.Ε.Α. has started to function as a Day Care Center, which nowadays boys and girls over 18 years old come from the Municipality of Egio and the wider area of Aigialia. People with disabilities are trained to develop all their abilities, socialise and at the same time raise awareness of the community.   • The expansion of the centre's facilities was completed in 2024. New, larger and more complete facilities were created.    • This includes living space for assisted living.    • A permanent exhibition of products created by people with disabilities is integrated. http://www.ekame.gr
