«Witness for the Prosecution» is not only considered Agatha Christie's best-written and most successful work, but also one of the most exciting courtroom thrillers of all time, with an ending that has gone down in history as one of the most surprising ever written.

Agatha Christie's award-winning masterpiece, one of the most thrilling thrillers of all time, returns to the HORN Theatre for the third time, directed by Nikorestis Haniotakis.

After 360 sold-out performances and two years of enthusiastic response from audiences and critics, Witness for the Prosecution continues its impressive run, with Yannis Vouros in the role of Sir Wilfrid Roberts, Kostas Koklas as barrister John Mayhew, Evgenia Dimitropoulou as the mysterious wife Romain and Homer Poulakis in the role of the defendant Leonard Bowles, accompanied by Melina Vamvaka, Yannis Drakopoulos, Dimitris Karabetsis, Varvara Makraki and Niki Pallikarakis in a suspenseful and surprising production that captivates the audience until the revealing finale.

Christie wrote «Witness for the Prosecution» in 1933. Twenty years later, she was asked to adapt the play for the stage. ‘I don't know anything about legal matters,’ she said. Nevertheless, the play premiered at the Winter Garden Theatre in London in October 1953 and was an instant hit on Broadway. In 1957, it was made into a film by Billy Wilder and nominated for six Oscars, starring Charles Laughton, Marlene Dietrich and Tyrone Power:

The case

Leonard Vowell is accused of murdering a wealthy widow. All the evidence points to him being the killer. However, the brilliant defence lawyer Wilfred Roberts, who takes on his defence, is not so sure that he is guilty. The young man's fight to avoid conviction is decided in court, where the witness statements are overwhelmingly against him and the jury's verdict seems a foregone conclusion. The only witness in his favour is his mysterious wife, who holds all the cards and knows the solution to the mystery.
