Adults-Theatre-Group F.O.L. - "Return to the village"

NOTE OF THE MANAGING COMMITTEE

Dear members and fellow citizens,

as you all know, the Adults-Theatre-Group F.O.L. had planned to perform Kostas Stavros' play "Return to the Village" in the summer of 2024. Unfortunately, the performance could not take place due to a serious injury to the protagonist.

In autumn 2024, the Managing Committee decided that it would be unfair if the ensemble's months of effort had been in vain and therefore set new performance dates for summer 2025.

On 8 May 2025, the head of the Adults-Theatre-Group informed the Managing Committee that rehearsals were well advanced and that the group was essentially ready for the planned performances.

Unfortunately, the Managing Committee was informed a month later that the lead actor in the play had resigned without giving any reason and stated that he had no intention of continuing.

The Managing Committee considers this behaviour to be detrimental to the theatre group. Above all, however, it regrets that the other members cannot perform the play, even though they have worked for seventeen months with dedication, passion and consistency to offer the audience a remarkable and high-quality performance.

The Adults-Theatre-Group of the Theatre F.O.L. will present the play "Return to the village" written by Kostas Stavrou. The premierewill will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 9.30 p.m. at the Cultural Centre Longos. ADMISSION 5,00 EURO as financial support for the CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS.

The play The play is about the return of two children to the village. The mother, a fortune teller who lives in the village with her bedridden husband, tries to persuade her two children, who live and work in Athens, to return to the village. In order to live in the village, they need a job and money. Apart from the gold coins her father has from her rebellious grandfather, the daughter will work as an undertaker, as she is a philologist, and the son will open a funeral parlour as an architect and design coffins and graves. Will they find the gold coins? Will the mother make it? A black comedy penned by Kostas Stavrou.

A few words about the author Konstantinos Stavrou comes from Arta, where he lives and works as a vet. He has been involved in amateur theatre since 2015 as a member and actor in the amateur theatre group Kombotiou. In 2017, he wrote his first plays "Return to the Village" and "Black Friday". He wrote five more works. His last work is "Dinner of Revelation". "Return to the Village" reflects the black humour that the author developed as a defence mechanism against the loss of his parents at the age of 22. This play has been performed with great success in the past by the theatre group "A.Th.O.A." in Arta and by the theatre group "Synthes" in Ioannina.
