Excursion programme 3rd to 5th October 2025Friday, October 3, 2025: Monemvasia – Gythio We meet at 7:15 a.m. at the fountain in Longos, from where we depart directly for Monemvasia, with a stop in Artemisio for breakfast coffee. We stay in MONEMVASIA for lunch and to stroll through the upper and lower towns of Yannis Ritsos with their 40 churches. In the early afternoon, we will make our way to our hotel in Mavrovouni. In the evening, there will be an optional excursion to GYTHIO. (Day 1, 408 km) Saturday, October 4: Mani After breakfast, we begin our tour of the villages of the Mani Peninsula with our first destination, VATHIA, at the southwestern end of Laconia. After strolling among the imposing towers of Mani, we continue to GEROLIMENA with its traditional stone houses located directly on the sea. After a short coffee break on the village beach, we continue to AEROPOLI, whose heart is a traditional settlement. Lunch in the taverns and mezedopoleia around the central square and necessary shopping in the bakeries and shops of the town. Return to Mavrovouni to our hotel. Optional evening excursion to Gythio. (Day 2, 115 km) Sunday, October 5: Messinian Mani – Kardamyli We leave the hotel and continue our journey towards Messinian Mani. On the way, we pass through LIMENI, where we take the necessary photos, and continue on to KARDAMYLI, passing through Oitylo, Trachila, Thalamades and Stoupa along the way. The Gulf of Messinia stretches out to our left. In Palaia Kardamyli, we can visit the tower of Mourtzinos, where Kolokotronis took refuge to protect himself from the Turks. We will have lunch in the cobbled streets of the small town and then make our way back to Longos, with short stops to rest. (Day 3, 353 km)
