Nydri . . .

Nydri is located in the eastern part of the island, at an altitude of 6 metres and is 16 km south of the town of Lefkada. It is a well-known and cosmopolitan tourist resort throughout the prefecture. The village became particularly famous when the shipowner Aristotle Onassis bought the island of Skorpios opposite in 1963. Since then, the village has hosted numerous celebrities from all over the world. Today, a statue of Onassis stands in the village harbour. The village's football club is called Ulysses and has been twinned with AS Monaco France since 2016.

The German archaeologist Wilhelm Dörpfeld claimed that the area was the capital of Odysseus and Homer's Ithaca. Excavations were carried out in the area of Stenu and circular mounds from the early and early middle Bronze Age were found. The area of the Nydrios plain up to the south-eastern slopes of Mount Skaros has been declared an archaeological site.
