EXCURSION to Xanthi, Komotini, Soufli, Alexandroupolis, Drama

The CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS "LORD BYRON" will organise in cooperation with MATTHEOS-TOURS - Aigio a excursion to EST MACEDONIA and TRACE on October 19-22, 2023. Departure from Longos: 6:30 a.m.

Participation fee: 235 €/person. The price includes transport in a luxury coach (51 seats), three nights' accommodation in the Hotel Xanthipion in the town of Xanthi with breakfast and accommodation tax. (Single room supplement 60 €). With the registration we ask for a deposit of 80 € per person. Registration is subject to room availability. Final payment by 10 October 2023. The cost per person can be reduced if the number of excursion participants allows this. Excursion programme October 19-22, 2023 Xanthi, Komotini, Soufli, Alexandroupolis, Drama   First day:Meeting of the excursionists at the fountain in Logos and departure at 6.30 a.m. We follow Ionia Street and after a coffee stop in Bizani continue along Egnatia Street to the Platanou rest stop (lunch).We then make a short stop in the city of Kavala in the early afternoon. XANTHI                                                       Read more ... Second day: The second day is dedicated to the prefecture of Xanthi. After a short morning walk in the town of Xanthi, we continue by bus to Lake Vistonida, visit the Chapel of Saint Nicholas in Porto Lagos, then drive to Toxotes to walk in the picturesque Nestos Valley, the Thracian Tempi Valley , and finally make a short visit to the Pomakochoria. POMAKOCHORIA                                            Read more ... Third day: An optional excursion to Alexandroupolis and Soufli is planned for the third day of our excursion. We will leave for Alexandroupoli after breakfast, after passing the town of Komotini and continue to Soufli. There we visit the silk museum and can buy traditional silk crafts in the local shops. After lunch we return to Alexandroupoli and take a walk around the city. Back to our hotel in Xanthi. If you want to stay in the city of Xanthi, you can stroll through the bazaar or visit one of the city's museums. ALEXANDOUPOLIS                           Read more ... Fourth day: After breakfast we leave the city of Xanthi and make our way back. On our way we will visit the town of Drama and have a coffee at the Saint Barbara Springs.
