Three-day excursion to Volos & Pelion

The CULTURAL SOCIETY LONGOS is organising a three-day trip to Volos and the villages of Pelion. We will visit Volos, Portaria, Makrinitsa and Tsagarada. Our trip will also include a visit to the Thermopylae Historical Information Centre, as well as to Agoriani (Eptalofos). Participation fee: 181 euros per person. The price includes travel by luxury coach and accommodation in a 3* hotel in Volos in twin or triple rooms, with breakfast included. A deposit of 70 euros per person is payable upon registration. Registrations will be accepted subject to room and place availability. The price does not include admission to museums and archaeological sites, nor the accommodation tax per night, which is to be paid at the accommodation. Itinerary for the excursion from October 30 to November 1, 2026 Friday, October 30: ITEA – THEREMOPYLAE – VOLOS Departure at 6.45 am from Longos (fountain). First, a quick stop for a coffee in the coastal town of Itea. Via Gravia and Bralos, we arrive at the Thermopylae Historical Information Centre, where we embark on a virtual journey back to the Battle of 480 BC. After a break at the refreshment bar, we carry on to Volos. We check in at the hotel and have the afternoon free to go for a walk along the beach or visit the famous tsipouro bars. Saturday, October 31: PORTARIA – MAKRINITSA – TSAGARADA After breakfast, we set off for the villages of Pelion. Our first stop is Portaria, with its stone mansions and cobbled streets. We then continue on to Makrinitsa, the ‘Balcony of Pelion’, where we’ll enjoy a coffee whilst taking in the view of Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf. In Tsagarada, we’ll have time for lunch and a stroll, the highlight of which is the centuries-old plane tree in Agia Paraskevi Square. Return to Volos in the afternoon. The evening is free. Sunday, November 1: PARNASSOS – AGORIANI – RETURN JOURNEY After breakfast, we set off from Volos. Following a brief stop along the way, we reach Agoriani (Eptalofos) on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. The plane trees, the babbling brooks and the waterfall near the square are perfect for a stroll before we have lunch in one of the village’s tavernas. In the afternoon, we return to Longos via Livadeia, Parnassos, Delphi and Itea.
